Be aware of the possibility of a tsunami if you live near an open body of water. A tsunami is also known as seismic sea waves and often mistakenly called “tidal waves” as they look like such only much bigger.

If local authorities issue a tsunami warning, be prepared for a series of large, dangerous waves that could damage anything near the body of water. Keep a distance from the water at all times and remember to stay off the beach until the warning has been retracted.
